Academic Life

A curriculum designed to suit your child

Wickham Court’s Senior School is divided into Lower and Middle Schools. In the Lower School, we guide your child to understand, manage, and work within the rigours of the academic education that will become the basis of their later success. As your child progresses into middle school, we anticipate that they will take 10 GCSE subjects. This can be altered depending on individual circumstances after consultation with staff, parents and children to ensure the most likely chance of success for your child.

Using the National Curriculum as a basis for further learning and development, we are able to continue to expand and tailor the curriculum to the needs of individual classes and children. This ensures that pupils are offered the opportunity and further develop individual interests.

During your child’s time at the Senior School, they will be asked to make optional choices. Our wide programme of optional subject choices allows your child to pick options best suited to their needs, ambitions, and aspirations. For example, your child could choose a third foreign language, to study drama, specialise in ICT, take Business Studies or Media Studies.

We set homework each day to help your child establish disciplined learning routines. To help maintain and encourage our partnership with parents, a homework timetable and contact book enables parents to monitor progress and assess work set.
