Academic Life

An outstanding education at Wickham Court

There is more to education than books and buildings; bricks and mortar. We take great pride in the school’s grounds and we value the sound of our children’s laughter as they run about our five acres of gardens and lawns.

We cultivate a caring, family atmosphere in which all children can feel at home and where staff get to know them all, not just those in their own classes. Our teaching philosophy seeks to promote the joy of learning in each child, to dispel the fear of failure and for each and every child to fully participate in the school community.

Specialist teachers work with the children in French, music, drama and sports. Priority is given to reading, comprehension, writing and numeracy in the first three years to ensure that your child has the basis to develop through our Prep School education. There is a well-stocked library which is used by all classes on a regular basis.

Our regular monitoring of each child’s progress means any subject or skill difficulties, whether temporary or longer term, are quickly spotted and corrective help provided. For children with more permanent difficulties, like dyslexia, we provide continuous support throughout their time with us.

A broad and balanced curriculum, enables all pupils to achieve their full potential in education and life.
