THE MIDDLE SCHOOL
The years between 11 and 14 can be
arduous as adolescents explore a world that may seem confusing. This is the time when students in grades 6 through 8 go on a journey, and for them the destination often seems unclear. We know that the journey may have many twists and turns, but we believe it will be well worth making.
We help. We do so first by avoiding rote
learning and rote memorization. Instead, education for our Middle Schoolers is active, very much hands-on. Within the framework of the five key academic subjects - English, social studies, foreign language, science, mathematics - our students explore and discover through discussion and debate and questioning. Their exposure is broadened by elective courses in art and music and drama.
We also provide a thorough grounding in study skills. Our Middle Schoolers learn the science of effective note-
taking; they grapple with the intricacies of time-management; and they understand the importance of homework as part of their overall educational plan.
Perhaps most significantly, our Middle
School students learn that challenging as the journey may be, they will not be going on it alone. Their teachers will be with them each step of the way, and they will guide through infinite patience, understanding, and, indeed, love.
